Austria requires a vignette for motorways and expressways, for vehicles up to 3.5 t. VignPass does not resell the Austrian vignette — it is sold directly by the official operator — but here is what you need to know to buy it right. See our Austria page for where to get it officially.

Four durations

Digital options are 1-day, 10-day, 2-month and annual. The annual runs on a fixed window — for example the 2026 vignette is valid from 1 December 2025 to 31 January 2027.

The online 18-day rule

This catches people: when a consumer buys the 2-month or annual digital vignette online, EU withdrawal law means it only becomes valid from the 18th day after purchase. The 1-day and 10-day can be used immediately. If you need motorway access sooner than 18 days for a long vignette, plan around it.

Section tolls on top

Several major alpine routes — Brenner, Tauern, Arlberg, Karawanke and others — carry separate section tolls that the vignette does NOT cover. Budget for these separately if your route uses them.
