Slovenia Vignette 2026 — The 2A/2B Class That Confuses Everyone

4 min read · June 2, 2026

Slovenia uses a fully digital e-vignette (e-vinjeta) for vehicles up to 3.5 t. The thing to get right here is not the duration — it is the vehicle class.

2A vs 2B — the part everyone gets wrong

Slovenia is the only country that splits standard vehicles into two classes, and it is based on height measured above the front axle, NOT the car’s overall height. Class 2A: up to 1.30 m above the front axle (most cars and SUVs). Class 2B: over 1.30 m (larger vans). Pick the wrong class and the system treats it as unpaid. A useful exception: campervans are always classed 2A regardless of height.

Durations

7-day, monthly (30-day), and annual. You can buy in advance — up to 30 days before the start date.

Enforcement

Camera-based plate checks, 24/7. The most common fine is not forgetting the vignette — it is a typo in the plate or country code, so double-check before paying. Note the Karawanke Tunnel to and from Austria is tolled separately and is not covered by the vignette.
